Flora and Fauna in Mumbai

Once upon a time there were seven islands situated on the West Coast of the beautiful country of India. Over time these seven islands were reclaimed into one land mass, and Mumbai the financial capital of India was born.

A city is born but the birds and trees are gone…

The sparrows, vultures, feathered friends and native trees 8re vanishing from Mumbai. Through this project, OASIS wants to drive home to the participants the 'native flora and fauna' existent in Mumbai and to survey the kind of flora and fauna that existed in the adjacent lane and the species that have witnessed the vanishing of the same. Community participation is a must to protect our ecological treasures.

The PROJECT GREEN IDEAS, is a venture of the Environment department of Maharashtra State and OASIS is the executing agency. The time frame of the project was August 2011 to January 2012.
